Chemical Peels Q & A

How does a chemical peel work?

A chemical peel is a skin-resurfacing treatment that uses a blend of active ingredients to exfoliate the outer layer of skin. This process encourages the skin to shed damaged layers and reveals healthier skin beneath.

At Revia Health & Wellness, we offer several VI Peel options, each designed for specific skin concerns. Depending on the formula, our peels can reach deeper layers to stimulate collagen and improve skin structure, making them suitable for concerns like wrinkles, acne, and discoloration.

What types of VI Peels are available?

When you schedule a chemical peel consultation at Revia Health & Wellness, Justine will work with you to determine which VI peel is best for your skincare goals. We offer 5 different medical grade VI Peels to address a variety of skin concerns:

VI Peel

Ideal for first-time users and those with sensitive skin, targeting early signs of aging, rough texture, and uneven tone.

VI Peel Advanced

Suited for mature skin to help enhance collagen and reduce wrinkles.

VI Peel Precision Plus

Targets pigmentation issues such as sun damage, melasma, and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.

VI Peel Purify

Created for those with active acne, oily, and breakout-prone skin.

VI Peel Purify with Precision Plus

Combines benefits for acne and acne scarring, effective for adult and hormonal acne.

What can a chemical peel help with?

Chemical peels are effective in treating a variety of skin issues. They can improve overall skin texture, even out skin tone, and reduce the appearance of fine lines.

Additionally, peels are often used to help manage acne by reducing oil production and unclogging pores. Chemical peels can also address pigmentation issues, making them an excellent choice for those struggling with dark spots or melasma.

Can a chemical peel help with acne and scarring?

Yes, many chemical peels are effective in managing acne. The VI Peel, in particular, contains salicylic acid, known to reduce oil and help with acne scars. By unclogging pores and promoting cell turnover, it reduces inflammation and minimizes scars over time.

What is the recovery like from a chemical peel?

There’s no recovery required after our VI peels. After treatment, you'll notice mild peeling, which can last two to three days. During this time, it’s important to avoid exfoliating products and limit sun exposure.

Peeling is typically light and manageable, with improvements in skin appearance becoming more noticeable after the skin has fully healed in about one week. For optimal results, we recommend following post-care instructions carefully and letting the skin peel naturally.

How often should I get a chemical peel?

The frequency of peels depends on your skin’s needs and goals. Most people benefit from a peel every 4-6 weeks, though Justine will customize a plan to suit your individual skin type and concerns.
